Boat Trailer Parts Selection Guide

Choose trailering equipment by the exact trailer, boat, and towing setup, not by appearance or boat length alone. Record your trailer model, component part numbers, measurements, and relevant load ratings before comparing replacements. Similar-looking hubs, winches, and brake components can have very different fit requirements.

Match hub dimensions before ordering

Check bolt circle, spindle profile, bearing compatibility, seal dimensions, and the manufacturer's capacity requirements together. A matching wheel bolt pattern alone does not establish hub fit.

  • The C.E. Smith hub kit 13517 lists a 5x4-1/2-inch bolt circle, a 1-inch to 1-1/16-inch tapered spindle, and a 1.79-inch seal inside diameter.
  • The C.E. Smith hub kit 13217 also lists a 5x4-1/2-inch bolt circle, but specifies a 1-inch straight spindle and a 1.25-inch seal inside diameter. Do not assume these two kits interchange.

Verify measurements and required kit contents against your existing assembly or the trailer manufacturer's parts information. Have a qualified trailer technician resolve uncertain bearing, seal, or spindle identification.

Choose a winch for its application and mounting

The Load Rite 6089.28 two-speed winch lists 2,500-pound capacity, a 27-foot strap, and an 8-inch quick-release handle, for specified Load Rite Elite Series and 5-Star model trailers. The Load Rite 6089.12 single-speed winch lists 600-pound capacity and a 12-foot strap for specified Load Rite personal-watercraft trailers.

Compare exact manufacturer fit, mounting pattern, handle clearance, strap length, hook connection, and operating instructions. Winch capacity, strap breaking strength, and allowable boat or trailer weight are not interchangeable ratings. Use the manufacturer's selection guidance for your loading arrangement rather than treating a capacity number as a universal boat-weight limit.

Match brake parts to the complete system

The Load Rite stainless steel single-axle brake line kit 6016.10S is listed for Load Rite single-axle trailers and includes specified hardline, flex hose, and fittings. It is a brake-line kit, not a complete braking system. Verify axle configuration, routing lengths, connection types, and compatibility with the existing brake equipment before purchase. The listing notes that fittings can vary from the reference image; rely on current specifications and manufacturer confirmation.

Check ratings and connections across the setup

For hitches, jacks, tie-downs, rollers, guide-ons, lights, wiring, and controllers, compare the exact mounting dimensions, intended function, environmental suitability, and component ratings. Check electrical connector and brake-system compatibility rather than assuming all trailer accessories work together. A guide-on or loading winch does not replace the prescribed transport-securement equipment.

Separate replacement parts from complete assemblies

Review included bearings, seals, straps, hardware, hoses, and connectors on each product page. Plan for inspection and any manufacturer-specified installation, adjustment, or servicing before towing. Replacing one part does not establish the condition or towing capacity of the full setup. Use a qualified technician for uncertain fit or safety-critical installation, and check current product pages for availability and detailed specifications.
